Repent








Below is part of the Oswald Chambers devo this morning that really got me to thinking.
Godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation . . . —2 Corinthians 7:10 Conviction of sin is best described in the words:
My sins, my sins, my Savior, How sad on Thee they fall.
The entrance into the kingdom of God is through the sharp, sudden pains of repentance colliding with man's respectable "goodness." Then the Holy Spirit, who produces these struggles, begins the formation of the Son of God in the person's life (see Galatians 4:19). This new life will reveal itself in conscious repentance followed by unconscious holiness, never the other way around.  . The foundation of Christianity is repentance. Strictly speaking, a person cannot repent when he chooses— repentance is a gift of God. The old Puritans used to pray for "the gift of tears." If you ever cease to understand the value of repentance, you allow yourself to remain in sin. Examine yourself to see if you have forgotten how to be truly repentant.
Galatians 4:19 My dear children, for whom I am again in the pains of childbirth until Christ is formed in you.
There have been times that I have repented and it just felt like words and then there have been times I have repented and was literally filled with Godly sorrow.
I just wonder if there have been times that I repented for the other person to hear and not actually repented to God. Maybe that is why some of those times I did not feel the sorrow. I was repenting on the outside but not on the inside.

    WOW! Ok that one busted my chops! I don't know how many people I've ask what does true repentance look like. I've yet to get a solid answer. I've repented at times and felt like all I did was go thru an excercise. There have been times when the tears came but its been a while. There was a time when my compassion ran deep and I wept immediately over someone's situation. Not so much any more. I feel for them, I do as Daddy tells me toward them but that deep down emotional pain that one feels towards anothers dilema has left the building. I want it back.
    Kee, I told you about my current battle and I still need prayer. I want my"God man " back. I'm Godlike more than my actions and thoughts are showing and I'm done. SO, the battle begins. Please join me in the fight.
    Keep writing your blog. It is touching the hearts of men. I know, it did me.

    Still chewing on this one. So what role if any do we play when we try to point out other peoples sin? Are we trying to play a role that is not ours?
