Just pray and get out of the way

Just doing a little reading this morning when I came to this devo. It reminded me how easy it is to want to fix someone and get in the way of the Lord. I had a couple that I was working with a few years back. Actually I was just working with the Husband. He would call and we would meet and we would talk. Many times he would ask me what he should do. I would tell him what I felt the Lord was showing me or I would give him advice from my life experiences in marriage. I began do get very frustrated with this person because he would not do anything I would say or suggest. In fact if he would have been paying me, I would have fired him because he was just wasting his money. One day, and this day was March 31st 2008 I read the devo below. Two things happened, I stopped helping and started praying. The second thing I realized was this …. This person did not have a teachable spirit. You cannot teach someone if they are not willing to listen. This devo below really messed me up. It showed me to get out of the Lord's way.

Sometimes ….. all we are supposed to do is pray …..THAT IS IT……. Just pray.

Heedfulness v. hypocrisy in ourselves

If any man sees his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and He shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. 1 John 5:16.

If we are not heedful of the way the Spirit of God works in us, we shall become spiritual hypocrites. We see where other folks are failing, and we turn our discernment into the gibe of criticism instead of into intercession on their behalf. The revelation is made to us not through the acuteness of our minds, but by the direct penetration of the Spirit of God, and if we are not heedful of the source of the revelation, we shall become criticizing centres and forget that God says—". . . he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death." Take care lest you play the hypocrite by spending all your time trying to get others right before you worship God yourself.

One of the subtlest burdens God ever puts on us as saints is this burden of discernment concerning other souls. He reveals things in order that we may take the burden of these souls before Him and form the mind of Christ about them, and as we intercede on His line, God says He will give us "life for them that sin not unto death." It is not that we bring God into touch with our minds, but that we rouse ourselves until God is able to convey His mind to us about the one for whom we intercede.

Is Jesus Christ seeing of the travail of His soul in us? He cannot unless we are so identified with Himself that we are roused up to get His view about the people for whom we pray. May we learn to intercede so whole-heartedly that Jesus Christ will be abundantly satisfied with us as intercessors.

Blinded by the darkness

1 John 2:9-11
Anyone who claims to live in God's light and hates a brother or sister is still in the dark. It's the person who loves brother and sister who dwells in God's light and doesn't block the light from others. But whoever hates is still in the dark, stumbles around in the dark, doesn't know which end is up, blinded by the darkness. The Message

I was actually looking for something else this morning when I came to this. It made me think about the people who are actually walking in unforgiveness and they don't think they are. There unforgiveness is effecting everyone around them. Their spouse, there kids and their friends. The interesting thing is this. The passage above speaks about stumbling in the dark, blinded by the darkness …. Don't know which end is up! The sad thing is so often we feel we are right and don't realize that the enemy disguises himself in the light and so we believe the lie spoken to us. Then everyone around us suffers. What is even worse is when we spread our poison to our spouse and get them to believe in the same thing which in a way is murmuring.

Corinthians 11:14
and no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light.NKJV

Galatians 5:7
You ran well. Who hindered you from obeying the truth? NKJV

So here is the question today.

Are you walking in unforgiveness today and trying to get your spouse or friends or even your children to side with you so you can justify your actions? Are you feeding them your poison?
