While I am singing

At 10.23 am today as I am worshiping the Lord during our time today on Quest, something happened. While I am singing ……. Verbally singing I hear the Lord loud and clear over my singing.

He said

"I love you Kevin" That is the first time I have ever heard Him say that to me. It brought me to tears.

Thank you Jesus!

I have always told people that God loves you, but have been uncomfortable in doing so in my heart. I mean, I did it because that is what the word says.

Now it will come from the heart and I am pumped and I love you

1 Timothy 2

This happens a lot to me. My bible reading comes from the scripture that my devotion is based on. It could be Oswald Chambers, or Men of Integrity, 90 minutes in Heaven. Just where God leads me. So this morning I was lead to Oswald. This morning was about living for God even when you don't feel like it or you are not inspired. 2 Timothy 4:2 (NASB95) 2 preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction. It means for the staff, to get on the bus when you know you have so much to do and maybe you feel like you shouldn't be going. So now it is all about trusting the Lord and walking it out. That was really good. So I decided to read in 2 Timothy 4 this morning. (Now remember I am serving on Quest this week) So I went to 2 Timothy (so I thought) The Lord landed me in 1 Timothy and it starts off "Pray for all Men"

1 Timothy 2:1-4 (NASB95)
1 First of all, then, I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men,
2 for kings and all who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity.
3 This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior,
4 who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

When I first read this I thought "why didn't I get this in the beginning of this prep work?" Because it was not time yet. This is what I think Holy Spirit is saying that we as staff really need to press in the next few days in prayer for the men on this event. Second that we need to press in and pray for the staff as well so the questers will see us as Jesus with skin on. They see a staff that walks in peace and in Unity. The biggest thing is the men that are on this event that are lost. The men who got it in their head but not in their heart. The men who think they got it and they don't. I hear the number 7 for what it is worth.

One more thing to add, has anyone read James lately?

26 If anyone thinks himself to be religious (piously observant of the external duties of his faith) and does not bridle his tongue but deludes his own heart, this person's religious service is worthless (futile, barren).
27 External religious worship [religion as it is expressed in outward acts] that is pure and unblemished in the sight of God the Father is this: to visit and help and care for the orphans and widows in their affliction and need, and to keep oneself unspotted and uncontaminated from the world. James 1:26-27 (AMP)

So after pondering verse 2, I was taking back to James 1.26-27, this is a life passage for me. Let me explain.

Verse 26 to me says talking the talk, maybe throwing a few stones, being religious

Verse 27 to me says, when you minister outside of your home you better be ministering inside of your home, because if you are not then you wife and children will be the widow and orphans and the ministering that you do outside of your home will be worthless (futile, barren) So as a staff member of this quest. Minister to your family before you leave and be fessed up. Amen Kevin

Luke 12

On April 13th I wrote about being an unworthy slave.

9 "He does not thank the slave because he did the things which were commanded, does he?
10 "So you too, when you do all the things which are commanded you, say, 'We are unworthy slaves; we have done only that which we ought to have done.' "

So, today I am reading Luke 11 and move into 12 when I come across this,

Luke 12:35-38 (NASB95)
35 "Be dressed in readiness, and keep your lamps lit.
36 "Be like men who are waiting for their master when he returns from the wedding feast, so that they may immediately open the door to him when he comes and knocks.
37 "Blessed are those slaves whom the master will find on the alert when he comes; truly I say to you, that he will gird himself to serve, and have them recline at the table, and will come up and wait on them.
38 "Whether he comes in the second watch, or even in the third, and finds them so, blessed are those slaves.

I need to focus on being the unworthy slave and be ready when he comes.

The other thing he gave me this morning was verse 22-25

Luke 12:22-25 (NASB95)
22 And He said to His disciples, "For this reason I say to you, do not worry about your life
(life translates to soul), as to what you will eat; nor for your body, as to what you will put on.
23 "For life
(soul) is more than food, and the body more than clothing.
24 "Consider the ravens, for they neither sow nor reap; they have no storeroom nor barn, and yet God feeds them; how much more valuable you are than the birds!
25 "And which of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life's span?

AMEN! For me this verse speaks says "let the chips fall where they fall toady and tomorrow. What I get done I get done. I am not in control anyway.

I also believe the verse 35 is for the staff of Michigan Quest.

35 "Be dressed in readiness, and keep your lamps lit.

Be Blessed today and walk it out!

Oswald Chambers

It is always interesting how God works. I opened my devotion this morning to April 27th after looking at my calendar to see it is the 22nd. So I guess I was supposed to read this day. Anyway I think the devotion speaks for itself.

Are you seeking great things for yourself? Not seeking to be a great one, but seeking great things from God for yourself. God wants you in a closer relationship to Himself than receiving His gifts, He wants you to get to know Him. A great thing is accidental, it comes and goes. God never gives us anything accidental. Nothing is easier than getting into a right relationship with God except when it is not God Whom you want but only what He gives.

If you have only come the length of asking God for things, you have never come to the first strand of abandonment, you have become a Christian from a standpoint of your own. 'I did ask God for the Holy Spirit, but He did not give me the rest and the peace I expected.' Instantly God puts His finger on the reason—you are not seeking the Lord at all, you are seeking something for yourself. Jesus says—"Ask, and it shall be given you." Ask God for what you want, and you cannot ask if you are not asking for a right thing. When you draw near to God, you cease from asking for things. "Your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask Him." Then why ask? That you may get to know Him.

Are you seeking great things for yourself—'O Lord, baptize me with the Holy Ghost'? If God does not, it is because you are not abandoned enough to Him, there is something you will not do. Are you prepared to ask yourself what it is you want from God, and why you want it? God always ignores the present perfection for the ultimate perfection. He is not concerned about making you blessed and happy just now; He is working out His ultimate perfection all the time—"that they may be one even as We are."

After I read this then He gave me the other scriptures to go with this devotion. Very fitting don't you think. Be blessed today and walk it out. Kevin

8
Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. James 4

5 And do you seek great things for yourself? Do not seek them; for behold, I will bring adversity on all flesh," says the Lord. "But I will give your life to you as a prize in all places, wherever you go." ' Jeremiah 45:5 (NKJV)

11 Not that I am implying that I was in any personal want, for I have learned how to be content (satisfied to the point where I am not disturbed or disquieted) in whatever state I am.
12 I know how to be abased and live humbly in straitened circumstances, and I know also how to enjoy plenty and live in abundance. I have learned in any and all circumstances the secret of facing every situation, whether well-fed or going hungry, having a sufficiency and enough to spare or going without and being in want. 2 Corinthians 2:6

It has been a very busy week and I am tired. Three different times this week I have been lead to Luke 17. This morning as well. I did not see what He wanted me to see. I was a little depressed about it. I went to the store and when I came back I started over. This time I got out my quest list and started to pray for them and I was reading over their emails when I came across one that I needed to respond too. Which lead me to 2 Corinthians 10:5 which we all know,

Corinthians 10:5 (DARBY)
5 overthrowing reasonings and every high thing that lifts itself up against the knowledge of God, and leading captive every thought into the obedience of the Christ;
But it was verse 6 that I had never noticed before. It leaped off the page.

2 Corinthians 10:6 (NKJV)
6 and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.

1556 ἐκδικέω [ekdikeo /ek·dik·eh·o/] v. From 1558; TDNT 2:442; TDNTA 215; GK 1688; Six occurrences; AV translates as "avenge" five times, and "revenge" once. 1 to vindicate one's right, do one justice. 1a to protect, defend, one person from another. 2 to avenge a thing. 2a to punish a person for a thing.

I thought this was really good. You take that thought captive and what happens? You avenge, you get revenge, you protect and defend your mind from the enemy. Holding everythought captive is walking in obedience. Hmmmm

Be Blessed and walk it out

Luke 17a

"Right now I am storm-tossed. And what am I going to say? 'Father, get me out of this'? No, this is why I came in the first place. I'll say, 'Father, put your glory on display.' " John 12.27-28 msg

As I was reading this morning in Luke 17 again at the verse where Luke 17.33

Whoever seeks to save his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life will preserve it.

The word life is translated from the Greek word psuche it changes the whole meaning when you put soul in there in place of the word life

1 breath. 1a the breath of life. 1a1 the vital force which animates the body and shows itself in breathing. 1a1a of animals. 1a12 of men. 1b life. 1c that in which there is life. 1c1 a living being, a living soul. 2 the soul. 2a the seat of the feelings, desires, affections, aversions (our heart, soul etc.). 2b the (human) soul in so far as it is constituted that by the right use of the aids offered it by God it can attain its highest end and secure eternal blessedness, the soul regarded as a moral being designed for everlasting life. 2c the soul as an essence which differs from the body and is not dissolved by death (distinguished from other parts of the body).

"Listen carefully: Unless a grain of wheat is buried in the ground, dead to the world, it is never any more than a grain of wheat. But if it is buried, it sprouts and reproduces itself many times over. In the same way, anyone who holds on to life just as it is destroys that life. But if you let it go, reckless in your love, you'll have it forever, real and eternal.

"If any of you wants to serve me, then follow me. Then you'll be where I am, ready to serve at a moment's notice. The Father will honor and reward anyone who serves me. John 12.24-26

Luke 17

As I was praying this morning and asking where should I go.  I was led to
Luke 17:7-10 (NASB95)
7 "Which of you, having a slave plowing or tending sheep, will say to him when he has come in from the field, 'Come immediately and sit down to eat'?
8 "But will he not say to him, 'Prepare something for me to eat, and properly clothe yourself and serve me while I eat and drink; and afterward you may eat and drink'?
9 "He does not thank the slave because he did the things which were commanded, does he?
10 "So you too, when you do all the things which are commanded you, say, 'We are unworthy slaves; we have done only that which we ought to have done.' "

After reading I realize that this scripture is not only for me but for everyone.  We all have a choice every day. Now it is your choice and my choice to be the unworthy slave.

Lord,

We are all unworthy slaves and we thank you.  Lord I ask that you would bless and stretch who ever reads this.  Guard their hearts, their minds and their souls.   To get everything that you have for them,  To leave nothing to chance but to stay focused on you.  I bind the enemy up.

In Jesus name

Psalm 35

Psalm 35:22-25 (NIV)
22 Lord, you have seen this. Don't be silent. Lord, don't be far away from me.
23 Wake up! Rise up to help me! My God and Lord, stand up for me.
24 Lord my God, when you hand down your sentence, let it be in my favor. You always do what is right. Don't let my enemies have the joy of seeing me fall.
25 Don't let them think, "That's exactly what we wanted!" Don't let them say, "We have swallowed him up."

Yesterday, I watched the movie Flywheel with my wife for the seventh or eighth time. Those movies always make me tear up. Holy Spirit is always moving. Anyway there is a part in the movie where he chooses not to defend himself. Most people in his situation would have. He chose to be quick to listen and slow to speak and slow to become angry. He walked away and asked the lord in prayer to defend him because he could not. Other witnesses came forward and defended him.

My point is how many times when we are persecuted do we choose to let the Lord defend us? Or do we choose the flesh way out instead to prove we are right? Hmmmm something to think about.

Phil 4

Yesterday morning was a tough morning, after I got in my truck to go to work. I begin to feel overwhelmed with everything that is going on right now. I have lots of work, several estimates and in the middle of 30 days of prep for the Michigan Quest. While driving I called a couple of men in my life to pray for me ….. nobody answered.

Then it occurred to me …. Maybe I should pray myself! What a concept. I wonder how many times we call people to pray for us or pray for our situation instead of praying ourselves. Is it better that they pray because we think their prayers are better than ours, do we think they do a better job?

So I prayed …. I just didn't throw a prayer up I took authority. I was in tears driving down the road crying out to God. I noticed after about 30 minutes that I had peace about the day, that I was content. Content just like Paul

Philippians 4:7 (AMP)
7 And God's peace [shall be yours, that tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation through Christ, and so fearing nothing from God and being content with its earthly lot of whatever sort that is, that peace] which transcends all understanding shall garrison and mount guard over your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:11-12 (AMP)
11 Not that I am implying that I was in any personal want, for I have learned how to be content (satisfied to the point where I am not disturbed or disquieted) in whatever state I am.
12 I know how to be abased and live humbly in straitened circumstances, and I know also how to enjoy plenty and live in abundance. I have learned in any and all circumstances the secret of facing every situation, whether well-fed or going hungry, having a sufficiency and enough to spare or going without and being in want.

Luke 4.13

Luke 4:13 (NASB95)
13 When the devil had finished every temptation, he left Him until an opportune time.

Time to be on guard today. Where is sin? Crouching outside your door ….. Always

Luke 4:18 (NASB95)
18 "The Spirit of the Lord is upon Kevin, Because He anointed Kevin to preach the gospel to the poor. He has sent Kevin to proclaim release to the captives, And recovery of sight to the blind, To set free those who are oppressed,

This is who I am

Tyranny of the Urgent

Tyranny of the Urgent

Charles E. Hummel

Have you ever wished for a thirty-hour day? Surely this extra time would relieve the tremendous pressure under which we live. Our lives leave a trail of unfinished tasks. Unanswered letters, unvisited friends, unwritten articles, and unread books haunt quiet moments when we stop to evaluate. We desperately need relief.

But would a thirty-hour day really solve the problem? Wouldn't we soon be just as frustrated as we are now with our twenty-four allotment? A mother's work is never finished, and neither is that of any student, teacher, minister, or anyone else we know. Nor will the passage of time help us catch up. Children grow in number and age to require more of our time. Greater experience in profession and church brings more exacting assignments. So we find ourselves working more and enjoying it less.

JUMBLED PRIORITIES…

When we stop to evaluate, we realize that our dilemma goes deeper than a shortage of time; it is basically the problem of priorities. Hard work does not hurt us. We all know what it is to go full speed for long hours, totally involved in an important task. The resulting weariness is matched by a sense of achievement and joy. Not hard work, but doubt and misgiving, produce anxiety as we review a month or year and become oppressed by the pile of unfinished tasks. We sense uneasily that we may have failed to do the important. The winds of people's demands have driven us onto a reef of frustration. We confess, quite apart from our sins, "We have left undone those things which we ought to have done; and we have done those things which we ought not to have done."

Several years ago an experienced cotton mill manager said to me, "Your greatest danger is letting the urgent things crowd out the important." He didn't realize how hard his maxim hit. It often returns to haunt and rebuke me by raising the critical problem of priorities.

We live in constant tension between the urgent and the important. The problem is that the important task rarely must be done today or even this week. Extra hours of prayer and Bible study, a visit with the non-Christian friend, careful study of an important book: these projects can wait. But the urgent tasks call for instant action---endless demands pressure every hour and day.

A man's home is no longer his castle; it is no longer a place from urgent tasks because the telephone breaches the walls with imperious demands. The momentary appeal of these tasks seems irresistible and important, and they devour our energy. But in the light of time's perspective their deceptive prominence fades; with a sense of loss we recall the important task pushed aside. We realize we've become slaves to the tyranny of the urgent.

CAN YOU ESCAPE…….?

Is there any escape from this pattern of living? The answer lies in the life of our Lord. On the night before He died, Jesus made an astonishing claim. In the great prayer of John 17 He said, " I have finished the work which Thou gavest me to do" (verse 4).

How could Jesus use the word "finished"? His three-year ministry seemed all too short. A prostitute at Simon's banquet had found forgiveness and a new life, but many others still walked the street without forgiveness and a new life. For every ten withered muscles that had flexed into health, a hundred remained impotent. Yet on that last night, with many useful tasks undone and urgent human needs unmet, the Lord had peace; He knew He had finished God's work.

The Gospel records show that Jesus worked hard. After describing a busy day Mark writes, "That evening at sundown, they brought to Him all who were sick or possessed with demons. And the whole city was gathered about the door. And He healed many who were sick with various diseases, and cast out many demons" (1:32-34).

On another occasion the demand of the ill and maimed caused Him to miss supper and to work so late that His family thought He was beside Himself (Mark 3:21). One day after a strenuous teaching session, Jesus and His disciples went out in a boat. Even a storm didn't awaken Him (Mark 4:37-38). What a picture of exhaustion.

Yet His life was never feverish; He had time for people. He could spend hours talking to one person, such as the Samaritan women at the well. His life showed a wonderful balance, a sense of timing. When His brothers wanted Him to go to Judea, He replied, "My time has not yet come" (John 7:6). Jesus did not ruin His gifts by haste. In The Discipline and Culture of the Spiritual Life, A.E. Whiteham observes; "Here in this Man is adequate purpose…inward rest, that gives an air of leisure to His crowded life: above all there is in this Man a secret and a power of dealing with the waste-products of life, the waste of pain, disappointment, enmity, death---turning to divine uses the abuses of man, transforming arid places of pain to fruitfulness, triumphing at last in death and making a short life of thirty years or so, abruptly cut off, to be a 'finished' life. We cannot admire the poise and beauty of this human life, and then ignore the things that made it."

WAIT FOR INSTRUCTIONS…

What was the secret of Jesus' work? We find a clue following Mark's account of Jesus' busy day. Mark observes that "….in the morning, a great while before day, He rose and went out to a lonely place, and there He prayed" (Mark 1:35). Here is the secret of Jesus' life and work for God: He prayerfully waited for His Father's instructions and for the strength to follow them. Jesus had no divinely-drawn blueprint; He discerned the Father's will day by day in a life of prayer. By this means He warded off the urgent and accomplished the important.

Lazarus's death illustrates this principle. What could have been more important than the urgent message from Mary and Martha, "Lord, he whom you love is ill" (John 11:3)? John records the Lord's response in these paradoxical words: "Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus. So when He heard that he was ill, He stayed two days longer in the place where He was" (verses 5-6). What was the urgent need? Obviously it was to prevent the death of this beloved brother. But the important thing from God's point of view was to raise Lazarus from the dead. So Lazarus was allowed to die. Later Jesus revived him as a sign of His magnificent claim, "I am the resurrection and the life: he who believes in Me though he die, yet shall he live" (verse 25).

We may wonder why our Lord's ministry was so short, why it could not have lasted another five or ten years, why so many wretched sufferers were left in their misery. Scripture gives not answer to these questions, and we leave them in the mystery of God's purposes. But we do know that Jesus' prayerful waiting for God's instructions freed Him from the tyranny of the urgent. It gave Him a sense of direction, set a steady pace and enabled Him to do every task God assigned. And on the last night He could say, "I have finished the work which Thou gavest me to do."

DEPENDENCE MAKES YOU FREE…

Freedom from the tyranny of the urgent is found in the example and promise of our Lord. At the end of a vigorous debate with the Pharisees in Jerusalem, Jesus said to those who believed in Him: "If you continue in My Word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free… Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is a slave to sin…So if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed" (John 8:31-36).

Many of us have experienced Christ's deliverance from the penalty of sin. Are we letting Him free us from the tyranny of the urgent? He points the way: "If you continue in My Word." This is the way to freedom. Through prayerful meditation on God's Word we gain His perspective.

P.T. Forsyth once said, "The worst sin is prayerlessness." We usually think of murder, adultery, or theft as among the worst. But the root of all sin is self-sufficiency---independence from God. When we fail to wait prayerfully for God's guidance and strength we are saying, with our actions, if not our lips, that we do not need Him. How much of our service is characterized by "going it alone"?

The opposite of such independence is prayer in which we acknowledge our need for God's instruction and supply. Concerning a dependent relationship with God, Donald Baillie says: "Jesus lived His life in complete dependence upon God, as we all ought to live our lives. But such dependence does not destroy human personality. Man is never so truly and fully personal as when he is living in complete dependence upon God. This is how personality comes into its own. This is humanity at its most personal."

Prayerful waiting on God is indispensable to effective service. Like the time-out in a football game, it enables us to catch our breath and fix new strategy. As we wait for directions, the Lord frees us from the tyranny of the urgent. He shows us the truth about Himself, ourselves, and our tasks. He impresses on our minds the assignments He want us to undertake. The need itself is not the call; the call must come form the God who knows our limitation. "The Lord pities those who fear Him. For He knows our frame; He remembers that we are dust" (Psalm 103:13-14). It is not God who loads us until we bend or crack with an ulcer, nervous breakdown, heart attack, or stroke. These come from our inner compulsions coupled with the pressure of circumstances.

EVALUATE…

The modern businessman recognizes this principle of taking time out for evaluation. When Greenwalt was president of DuPont, he said, "One minute spent in planning saves three or four minutes in execution." Many salesmen have revolutionized their profits by setting aside Friday afternoon to plan carefully the major activities for the coming week. If an executive is too busy to stop and plan, he may find himself replaced by another man who takes time to plan. If the Christian is too busy to stop, take spiritual inventory, and receive his assignments from God, he becomes a slave to the tyranny of the urgent. He may work day and night to achieve much that seems significant to himself and others, but he will not finish the work God has for him to do.

A quiet time of meditation and prayer at the start of the day refocuses our relationship with God. Recommit yourself to His will as you think of the hours that follow. In these unhurried moments list in order of priority the tasks to be done, taking into account commitments already made. A competent general always draws up his battle plan before he engages the enemy; he does not postpone basic decisions until the firing starts. But he is also prepared to change his plans if an emergency demands it. So try to implement the plans you have made before the day's battle against the clock begins. But be open to any emergency interruption or unexpected person who may call.

You may also find it necessary to resist the temptation to accept an engagement when the invitation first comes over the telephone. No matter how clear the calendar may look at the moment, ask for a day or two to pray for guidance before committing yourself. Surprisingly the engagement often appears less important after the pleading voice has become silent. If you can withstand the urgency of the initial moment, you will be in a better position to weigh the cost and discern whether the task is God's will for you.

In addition to your daily quiet time, set aside one hour a week for spiritual inventory. Write an evaluation of the past, record anything God may be teaching you, and plan objectives for the future. Also try to reserve most of one day each month for a similar inventory of longer range. Often you will fail. Ironically, the busier you get the more you need this time of inventory, but the less you seem to be able to take it. You become like the fanatic, who, when unsure of his direction, doubles his speed. And frenetic service for God can become an escape from God. But when you prayerfully take inventory and plan your days, it provides fresh perspective on your work.

CONTINUE THE EFFORT…

Over the years the greatest continuing struggle in the Christian life is the effort to make adequate time for daily waiting on God, weekly inventory, and monthly planning. Because this time for receiving marching orders is so important, Satan will do everything he can to squeeze it out. Yet we know from experience that only by this means can we escape the tyranny of the urgent. This is how Jesus succeeded. He did not finish all the urgent tasks in Palestine or all the things He would have liked to do, but He did finish the work which God gave Him to do. The only alternative to frustration is to be sure that we are doing what God wants. Nothing substitutes for knowing that this day, this hour, in this place we are doing the will of the Father. Then and only then can we think of all the other unfinished tasks with equanimity and leave them with God.

Sometime ago Simba bullets killed a young man, Dr Paul Carson. In the providence of God, his life's work was finished. Most of us will live longer and die more quietly, but when the end comes, what could give us greater joy than being sure that we have finished the work God gave us to do? The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ makes this fulfillment possible. He has promised deliverance from the sin and the power to serve God in the tasks of His choice. The way is clear. If we continue in the Word of our Lord, we are truly His disciples. And He will free us from the tyranny of the urgent, free us to do the important, which is the will of God.

Encouragement by Marc Owings

As leaders we can sometimes lose sight of a truth that produces peace. Many times it seems as if the truth of trust can easily become stuck in the mire of confusion and frustration. We are inundated with a daily dose of suggestions and market concepts of how to lead a better life. Even in the Christian culture we have produced seminars, written self help books and preached ourselves into a state of confusion. Many times the answer we are desperately looking for is right in front of us. A man named John Kavanaugh once came to Mother Teresa, searching the answer on how he was to spend his life. When Mother Teresa met John she politely asked him how she could pray for him. John answered, "Pray that I have clarity." Kind Mother Teresa replied a stern, "no I will not pray that prayer." John responded, "But you seem to have the clarity that I am looking for." Laughing, Mother Teresa looked at John and responded, "We cling to clarity, but clarity is the thing we must let go of. I have never had clarity; I have always had trust. So I will pray that you trust God." Whether you are a business owner, project manager, house wife or secretary, God is inviting you to trust His goodness and faithfulness. Clarity is not the goal, Trust is. Trust is a currency that spends in God's economy. It purchases and creates an atmosphere in which we can live a life full of His peace and His hope. You may not see it with clarity, but you will know it's there. Do you trust God or have you been chasing clarity?

Those who know your name trust in you, for you, O Lord, do not abandon those who search

for you. Psalm 9:10

Just a little note to everyone.

I have been very busy the last couple of weeks (YEAH)!!!!!

I have been spending time in the word and praying. I just have not had the time to write on my blog. I am fantastic! And God is good and faithful. I am in the middle of 30 days of prep for the Michigan Quest so you know what to pray for.

He Has Risen!

Amen

This morning I was lead to Proverbs 23. The Lord gave it to me good this morning

Proverbs 23:12 (NASB95)
12 Apply your heart to discipline And your ears to words of knowledge.

Make up your mind or your unmade mind will unmake you

Proverbs 23:17 (NASB95)
17 Do not let your heart envy sinners, But live in the fear of the Lord always.

Always be content with what I own and have. Fear of the LORD!

Proverbs 23:19 (NASB95)
19 Listen, my son, and be wise, And direct your heart in the way.

Walk in radical obeisance

Proverbs 23:22 (NASB95)
22 Listen to your father who begot you, And do not despise your mother when she is old.

Let my mother go

Proverbs 23:26 (NASB95)
26 Give me your heart, my son, And let your eyes delight in my ways.

Focus on Him and keep every thought captive to the word of the LORD!

Amen

Walk it out and be blessed

Matthew 12

Sometimes I just have to be reminded who I am. Last night when I reached for my bible, it says on the cover "My name is Kevin and the Spirit of the Lord is on me" I just stared at it for a minute.

This morning when I was reading the foot note in Matthew 16, it took me to Matthew 12 where I immediately saw this.

18 "Behold, My Servant whom I have chosen; My Beloved in whom My soul is well-pleased; I will put My Spirit upon Him, And He shall proclaim justice to the Gentiles. Matthew 12:18 (NASB95)

I just have to be reminded of who I am and how the Lord sees me.

Be Blessed and walk it out

Your Words

Your Words

As I read in Men of Integrity this morning there were several scripture references used. Matthew 12 is where I landed. My last post spoke of the tongue. Here is what the Lord touched on today.

Matthew 12:36-37 (NASB95)
36 "But I tell you that every careless word that people speak, they shall give an accounting for it in the Day of Judgment.
37 "For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned."

I think this passage speaks for itself.

Be Blessed today and walk it out

Conviction and rebellion

Psalm 39:1 (NASB95)
1 ………………………………………………………."I will guard my ways That I may not sin with my tongue; I will guard my mouth as with a muzzle While the wicked are in my presence."

While reading this morning about the tongue I felt of conviction about the words that come out of my mouth. Like saying the word Sh#$ is cool or something. The scripture above talks about guarding my mouth around the wicked, but what about around the Godly? Where we may occasionally might drop the S bomb or maybe even the F bomb. Lately I have heard men who I deeply respect curse like it is no big deal and I don't get it. Almost like it is okay. We have to walk in a higher standard. Especially around each other.

Last night I was tired my wife was gone and nobody was home and I had an especially hard day. I made mistakes that cost me almost $500.00 on my remodel job. It was the perfect recipe for looking and acting out. I chose not to call any one and I chose VICTORY!

It was about choice. The truth is ………. If you choose to sin and you know exactly what you are doing. I believe that is called Rebellion. I don't think I like that.

1 Samuel 15:23 (NKJV)
23 For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, And stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the Lord, He also has rejected you from being king.

Luke 18

Luke 18

As I was reading this morning in Andrew Murray's Humility, there was verse out of Luke 18 that he referred to. I felt I was to read Luke 18. While I was praying I was praying for direction on the issue I have with lust and the rejection with my mom. I am asking Him "what is it?" What causes it? I am thinking about what society says "men are visual" I am tired of that label! I don't care! What I care about is what is going on with me and my crap. Anyway … when I asked about these two issues as of late I don't get an answer. I did this morning and it came in His word, it makes since but it was not what I wanted to here but it is what I needed to hear. I just cried when I read it. I am amazed at the word of the Lord

Luke 18:1 (NASB95)
1 Now He was telling them a parable to show that at all times they ought to pray and not to lose heart, …………………………………….

A Prayer for Humility

Something by Andrew Murray ……. Something that would be very difficult to do, but very rewarding.

It is this: retire from the world and all conversation, only for one month. Neither write, nor read, nor debate anything with yourself. Stop all of the former workings of your mind. And, with all the strength of your heart, stand for one month, as continually as you can, in the following form of prayer to the Lord. Offer it frequently on your knees. But whether sitting, walking, or standing, be always inwardly longing and earnestly this one prayer to the Lord.

"Lord I pray that of Your great goodness You would make known to me, and take from my heart, every kind of and form and degree of pride, whether it be from evil spirits, or corrupt nature; and that You would awaken in me the deepest depth and truth of the humility that can make me capable of Your light and Holy Spirit."

Reject every thought, except that of waiting and praying in this matter from the bottom of your heart, with the kind of truth and earnestness that is used by people in torment who wish to pray and be delivered from it. If you can and will give yourself up in truth and sincerity to this spirit of prayer, I will venture to affirm that, if you had twice as many evil spirits in you as Mary Magdalene had, they will be all cast out of you, and you will forced with her to weep tears of love at the feet of Jesus.

Be Blessed and walk it out

Kevin

I think this would be harder than a forty day fast from food!

Psalm 103

Have been doing a lot of reading this morning. 1 Corinthian 10, Psalm 100, 101, 102 and 103. Sometimes it takes a while before the Lord will give me something. Sometimes maybe he did and I did not receive it. Anyway, I got it this morning.

Psalm 103 (NASB95)
3 Who pardons all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases;
4 Who redeems your life from the pit, Who crowns you with loving-kindness and compassion;
5 Who satisfies your years with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the eagle.
Powerful promises here

If there are two things in my life that I struggle with it is having the Fear of the Lord and lust. When I get it (the Fear of the Lord) the lust will be tamed, at least that is what I think.
11 For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is His loving-kindness toward those who fear Him.
12 As far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our transgressions from us.
13 Just as a father has compassion on his children, So the Lord has compassion on those who fear Him.

17 But the loving-kindness of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear Him and His righteousness to children's children,

20 Bless the Lord, you His angels, Mighty in strength, who perform His word, Obeying the voice of His word!
21 Bless the Lord, all you His hosts, You who serve Him, doing His will.

It is all about walking in Obedience to His word

Be Blessed and walk it out

Genesis 18.19

I find very interesting every time I spend time in the word. His quiet whisper always comes at His perfect time and when I least expect it. I am reading O. Chambers this morning I am on March 20th (go figure) Very good devotion. It comes from

Shall I hide from Abraham that thing which I do? Genesis 18:17.

So I went to Genesis to look at that passage, but it was verse 19 that got me this morning

18:19 "For I have chosen him, so that he may command his children and his household after him to keep the way of the Lord by doing righteousness and justice, so that the Lord may bring upon Abraham what He has spoken about him." (NASB95)

So as soon as I read this I hear "Kevin I have chosen you to lead your household you have to make a choice to keep my ways or live by your ways. Live by my ways and I will bless you. Walk in righteousness. Can it get any planner … yet I choose to make it difficult at times. Today's devotion is below.

Oswald Chambers March 20th

Shall I hide from Abraham that thing which I do? Genesis 18:17.

It's Delights. This chapter brings out the delight of real friendship with God as compared with occasional feelings of His presence in prayer. To be so much in contact with God that you never need to ask Him to show you His will, is to be nearing the final stage of your discipline in the life of faith. When you are rightly related to God, it is a life of freedom and liberty and delight, you are God's will, and all your commonsense decisions are His will for you unless He checks. You decide things in perfect delightful friendship with God, knowing that if your decisions are wrong He will always check; when He checks, stop at once.

It's Difficulties. Why did Abraham stop praying when he did? He was not intimate enough yet to go boldly on until God granted his desire; there was something yet to be desired in his relationship to God. Whenever we stop short in prayer and say—'Well, I don't know; perhaps it is not God's will,'—there is still another stage to go. We are not so intimately acquainted with God as Jesus was, and as He wants us to be—"That they may be one even as we are one." Think of the last thing you prayed about—were you devoted to your desire or to God? Determined to get some gift of the Spirit or to get at God? "Your Heavenly Father knows what things you have need of before you ask Him." The point of asking is that you may get to know God better. "Delight thyself also in the Lord; and He shall give you the desires of your heart." Keep praying in order to get a perfect understanding of God Himself.

I wonder what that looks like … getting a perfect understanding of God Himself. Will you ever know …. Will I every know?

Be Blessed and walk it out

Luke 14:25-34

Luke 14:25-34 (NASB95)
26 "If anyone comes to Me, and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be My disciple.

Hate is a strong word here, it is more like follow me and don't let anything get in the way. It would appear like hatred but actually it is devotion to Jesus. I myself tend to let things get in the way at times. Like my work or Wife or ….. Whatever it is that gets between me and Jesus
27 "Whoever does not carry his own cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple.
What is my cross?

28 "For which one of you, when he wants to build a tower, does not first sit down and calculate the cost to see if he has enough to complete it?
It seems every day I have to count the costs of my actions. I know that walking with Jesus is not easy. There are decisions that have to be made every day. It is something I enjoy, but it is hard. Can you relate?
33 "So then, none of you can be My disciple who does not give up all his own possessions.

Man oh Man this last passage is the one that speaks the most. Have I given up everything? EVERYTHING? Do I have any secret sins that I am holding on to? Am I controlling my money? What is the one thing that I am not willing to let go of. Am I afraid or are you afraid if you let that one thing go, that life will never be the same? It might not be, but when you and I chose to follow Jesus. We made a decision then, understanding ……………… that I our life would never be the same.

Be blessed today and walk it out

2 Corinthian 7:1

2 Corinthian 7:1
Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all defilement of flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.NASB95

Oswald Chambers Devo this morning directed me to 2 Corinthians 7. It really got me thinking about the Fear of the Lord. It says to cleanse ourselves which is James 5.16. So I have to ask me self is there anything that I have not confessed that is holding me back from having what I would call a "Healthy Fear of the Lord"? I will have to chew on that one for a while.

Be blessed today and walk in unity, be transformed by walking in obedience

1 Corinthians 9:1-2

1 Corinthians 9:1-2
Am I not free? Am I not an apostle? Have I not seen Jesus our Lord? Are you not my work in the Lord? 2 If to others I am not an apostle, at least I am to you; for you are the seal of my apostleship in the Lord.NASB95

Woke up at 4:30 just on fire for what the Lord has for me this morning and I was not disappointed. I read a couple of devotions, but it was Oswald Chambers that grabbed me today and sent me to 1 Corinthians 9.

Am I not free?
Yes I am

Am I not an apostle? Yes I am (1 a delegate, messenger, one sent forth with orders. )

Have I not seen Jesus our Lord?
Yes I have in many ways in different people and through some of my dearest friends.

Are you not my work in the Lord?
Always … constantly and forever.

If to others I am not an apostle, (that is okay because I don't need approval of man) at least I am to you; for you are the seal of my apostleship in the Lord.
Oswald Chambers writes "My worth to God in public is what I am in private .................. It is not the act of spiritual experience that leads to failure, but our lack of laboring to keep the ideal right

1 Corinthians 9:27
I discipline my body like an athlete, training it to do what it should. Otherwise, I fear that after preaching to others I myself might be disqualified.NLT

The last thing I want to be is disqualified.

As I move forward in this walk and certain men have told me this …. I am a teacher. I carry a bigger responsibility and I will be held more accountable. As of late more and more men are calling me and looking to me for prayer and advice. It is a good place to be in. The enemy wants to tell me ….. If they really knew you they wouldn't call you. So now more than ever I need to be in prayer. If I have the responsibility of speaking into one man's life and Holy Spirit changes him. That is as powerful as speaking to 1000 men

James 3:1
Dear brothers and sisters, not many of you should become teachers in the church, for we who teach will be judged more strictly.NLT

It has been a good morning

1 Samuel 17.47

1 Samuel 17:47
Then all this assembly shall know that the Lord does not save with sword and spear; for the battle is the Lord's, and He will give you into our hands."NKJV

There is nothing new under the sun …. Such a catchy phrase …… but it is scripture. Was reading about David and Goliath this morning? It got me thinking about this lust issue I have. I know it is a heart issue. I feel this morning that the reason I fail in this area is because of the choices I make but also because I choose NOT to rely on the Lord. I make the battle my own and I don't even realize I am doing it. I think I am giving it to the Lord but I don't.

Full surrender is full peace. If we are restless and concerned about things formerly renounced, we have not generally surrendered. Surrender is the source of true peace. If we are not at peace. It is because our surrender is not complete. This quote came out of a book I have read in for eight years and it resonates in my heart all of the time.

Hebrews 12:4
In your struggle against sin, you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood.NIV

When does it become that you are shedding your own blood?

1 Corinthians 1.9

Yesterday was a hard day. I felt beat up all day and it was all my own doing. As Marc Owings would say, "the boomerang came back around and hit me" Sometimes I feel like I have absolutely no control over my actions and yet I know that is a lie. As I sat on the couch yesterday watching Robin Hood it just hit me like a ton of bricks and I just sobbed for about three minutes. It was very cleansing. Then I though, I have been here before.

I have been reading in a book called "Never Quit" by Edwin Louis Cole I just opened it up to chpt 9 a week ago. It says "We must be able to accept responsibility for failure before we are able to accept responsibility for success" So I have to ask myself, Have I accepted responsibility for my failures? Passing the test will purify us from previous failures. Hmmm I have read the above quote many times over the last week and thought about it. I am just not convinced.

This morning as I am eating my breakfast I hear 1 Corinthians 1.9. I actually thought I had conjured up that thought….. That I was grasping ….. Wanting to hear Him.

1 Corinthians 1:9
God is faithful, through whom you were called into fellowship with His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. NASB95

I read I realized it was Him.

Romans 8:30
and these whom He predestined, He also called; and these whom He called, He also justified; and these whom He justified, He also glorified.NASB95

Know the Sacrifice

Behind the tattered robe,

Is the greatest story ever told.

What He did for man,

Some people will never understand.

Those that do,

Know the Sacrifice.

Your blood dripped from the Cross.

It will never be lost.

It is captured forever.

Through the end of time.

It will wash the sin away.

No longer will we be held at bay.

"Lord why have you forsaken me?"

"My Son, it is meant to be.

We must cleanse the Earth of sin."

"My Son, sacrifice your self, it is time to check in."

His cries were heard through out the Land.

His death allows us to make a stand.

Glory to the man who saves us.

Glory to our Lord Jesus.

Never could I imagine the suffering.

The Pain that You felt

The blood running into your eyes,

It crushes my heart . . . . . . . makes me cry.

Looking to the Heavens

You were so helpless.

Knowing you were going to die.

Yet, you did not fight back.

You were on the cross

Your spirit not broken.

Your Father has spoken.

"You are not lost."

"My Son, come be with me.

That is the prophecy.

That is what is meant to be,

You will be my legacy."

2 Corinthians 3:4

2 Corinthians 3:4
Such confidence we have through Christ toward God.NASB95

This is a good word for this morning. To be confident in your ministry towards others. This confidence allows me or you to stay the course. To keep your eyes on the prize of Jesus. To run the race.

Yesterday as I sat in the parking lot before my job interview. I asked the Lord to guide my words to be able to speak from the heart, because I did not know what to say. I was told, that was walking in humility. I did not know that, but it was good to hear …. I needed to hear that. That is a sign of maturity which is something I feel I am lacking in sometimes. So it was good to hear that..

Walk in Humility today and Love your brother whoever that may be. Humility is a seed that gets planted and you have to decide how long you are going to water it.

Psalm 139.23

Psalm 139:23
Look deep into my heart, God and find out everything I am thinking. CEV

Worst night of sleep I have had in a very long time. I must have woke up 10 or 12 times. I would lay there and think about golf, work, my Wife. I get up this morning and open my devotion and there it was speaking loud and clear. I didn't have to even open my bible because the Lord spoke to me in this manner. I need Him to look deep in my heart, because frankly I don't think I know how.

I walk in victory yesterday now I am off to war!

2 Chronicles 19 and 20

So ……… today or should I say last night, I got up at 2:30 in the morning to seek his face about my Golf situation. Went back to bed at 3:30 and got up at 6:30. Just not really sure where I am going. Richard replied to my email and said.

"I hear "go"
I hear "walk in unity with K"
I hear "I will be with you"
I hear "I am NOT confused nor will I confuse you"
I hear " I will show you and K My face"

Still chewing on this one.

As I am reading in my men of integrity devo this morning I felt led to read in 2 Chronicles chpt 20 thinking I was going to hear one thing and heard another. What happened was I started reading in chapter 19 thinking it was chapter 20. Another warning for me

2 Chronicles 19:7
"Now then let the fear of the Lord be upon you; be very careful what you do, for the Lord our God will have no part in unrighteousness or partiality or the taking of a bribe."NASB95

I don't believe this scripture has anything to do with the job interview I have tomorrow but it has everything to do with the time my wife will be away on Heart Quest. Now two days in a row I have been warned. Hmmmm. As I read further I get to the scripture that the devo was referring too.

2 Chronicles 20:21-22
And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed those who should sing to the Lord, and who should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army and were saying: "Praise the Lord, For His mercy endures forever." 22 Now when they began to sing and to praise, the Lord set ambushes against the people of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah; and they were defeated.NKJV

What I found after reading these two scriptures was this.

  • I don't worship the Lord enough
  • I f I would worship Him more my enemies would be defeated
  • That's good news AMEN?

Romans 13

My wife leaves to serve on Heart Quest tomorrow. It can be a tough time for me or it can be a blessed time. These are the times when I have to rely on the Lord. Sometimes I just don't know if that is what I am doing. My devotion this morning was Romans 13. As I was praying for strength and reading I came to verse 14. It almost comes across as a warning. When I went back and read it again it is a warning.

Romans 13:14
But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh in regard to its lusts.NASB95

Romans 13:11-13
Do this, knowing the time, that it is already the hour for you to awaken from sleep; for now salvation is nearer to us than when we believed. The night is almost gone, and the day is near. Therefore let us lay aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light. Let us behave properly as in the day, not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual promiscuity and sensuality, not in strife and jealousy.NASB95

So, I would ask you to pray this week for me. Be blessed and walk it out

The Fruit of the saved

Something to share that my friend David Terry wrote.

THE FRUIT OF THE SAVED

If you have been around church or organized religion for any length of time you would probably have to admit there is a certain attitude or swagger to the people who are really "in the know". We learn very quickly, either directly or indirectly, that there are certain phrases, looks, clothes, even acts of good service that cause us to look like we belong to Christ and His church. However, the true test of "fruit" in the life of the believer is not merely external manifestations of righteousness, but internal changes of desire and attitudes.

Sometimes hanging around church is the easiest place on the planet to think that you are saved. Sometimes growing up in a Christian home can be the most difficult place to find God. Being sandwiched in a culture of so-called "believers", it is often easy to think that you have become a believer in Christ without doing anything of the sort.

You can be tender to God, the things of God and the people of God and not know God.

You can enjoy the warm and fuzzy fullness of the fellowship of the church and not have a personal relationship with God.

The following is a very brief list of questions concerning the internal fruit of your life. You and only you can answer these questions. Answer honestly.

1. Is your world-view filtered through the lens of God's sovereignty over all things, events, happenings and circumstances that impact your life? Do you trust Him?

2. Do you find life in the Word of God? Even when you are out of God's word in your personal walk, when you hear the Truth does it convict, encourage and motivate you?

3. Are you spiritually, as well as, emotionally moved when lost people are saved?

4.Is blatant sin disgusting to you in your own life and grievous when seen in the lives of others?

5. Are you genuinely interested and excited about what God is doing in others?

6. Do you have JOY? (Not happiness that is conditional on your "happenings")

7. Do you desire a more intimate, unfettered, transparent and oblivious worship of Father? Do you desire even brief moments of being able to block out everything around you and worship Father?

8. Is your spiritual life and character deeper than it was 1 year ago, 3 years ago and 5 years ago?

Write your "story" on a 3x5 card. Write down the experience of your accepting Christ as your personal Lord and Savior. How did you do it? Why did you do it? What did you pray? You cannot be prayed over by another person and "get God". If you prayed a prayer for any other reason than you were convicted of your sin and separation from God, ask the Holy Spirit to confirm or deny that moment in your life. GET YOUR STORY!

Romans 6

It has been a while since I wrote something and it is not because I didn't want to. After men's group last Monday ….. I was on a spiritual high Tuesday. Wednesday it in a way came crashing down. I didn't look at anything but I did something related to looking at something. Which in turn opened a door? That door has been shut. I did however let it derail me for three days. Yesterday as I was working I was listening to my IPod. I have the bible on it but wasn't listening to it yet. What I was listening to was classic rock. After about 12 songs it went to the bible. It started in acts but I felt like I should listened to Romans 6 and that is where it begins.

Romans 6:17-23
But thanks be to God that though you were slaves of sin, you became obedient from the heart to that form of teaching to which you were committed,
I want to be obedient from the heart.

18 and having been freed from sin, you became slaves of righteousness. 19 I am speaking in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh. As I know oh so well, my flesh is very strong at times, but why? Once again …….CHOICE!

.For just as you presented your members as slaves to impurity and to lawlessness, resulting in further lawlessness, so now present your members as slaves to righteousness, resulting in sanctification. I am sanctified, I am set apart for His Glory. The Lord uses me and for that I am grateful.

20 For when you were slaves of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness. 21 Therefore what benefit were you then deriving from the things of which you are now ashamed? For the outcome of those things is death. There was and there is no benefit just misery

22 But now having been freed from sin and enslaved to God, you derive your benefit, resulting in sanctification, and the outcome, eternal life. Life with benefits, You don't have to pay for these benefits and nobody can take them away. They are free to receive and free to give away. Spread the Gospel, lead people to Christ and plant seeds and watch them grow.

23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.NASB95

When I walk in the light I see more light.   The biggest thing of late is trying to walk in Humility before God.  This is a Quote from Humility by Andrew Murray but,  I could have wrote it myself.  "It is easy to think we humble ourselves before the Lord.  Yet Humility towards men will be the only sufficient proof that our humility before the Lord is real.  It will be the only proof that humility has taken up its abode in us and become our very nature"

So……. As much as I would like to think I am a humble man I am not as humble as I think I am.  I have yet to arrive.  Right now I am in a very good place in my walk with the Lord and that is a good thing.   Humility to me also goes hand in hand with having a Fear of the Lord,  which is the other thing that I have been dealing.  Knowing and understanding just exactly who I am.  A heir to the throne.  A Son.   AMEN?

Choice

1 Thessalonians 4:3-8
It is God's will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; that each of you should learn to control his own body in a way that is holy and honorable, not in passionate lust like the heathen, who do not know God; and that in this matter no one should wrong his brother or take advantage of him. The Lord will punish men for all such sins, as we have already told you and warned you. For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life. Therefore, he who rejects this instruction does not reject man but God, who gives you his Holy Spirit.NIV

This is a huge passage that I memorized around five years ago and it just roars. I have not thought about this passage in a while until yesterday. I brother called me yesterday and he was in a battle. The lord brought this passage to me. So I read it to him and He confessed and we prayed and it was all good.

When I got up this morning and started reading … I was in John 16 and I felt I needed to go back and read this passage again. It just really spoke to me this morning.

Avoid sexual immorality …….. This I have been doing, are you?

Control your own body in a way that is Holy and Honorable. Not like worldly people. Have been doing well in some areas. Not good in the exercise and eating. How are you doing in this area?

Don't take advantage of your brother or wrong them (this means your sister too) Doing well in this area. I try to live honestly and with Integrity. How are you doing in this area?

If you do …. You will be punished. I don't want to be punished but if I am I know it is for my own good. The Lord disciplines' those He Loves.

God called us to live a Holy life. I want to be sold out in this area, but I have work to do. Living a Holy life comes back to having a Fear of the Lord. How is your Fear of the Lord? I am getting there.

If you reject this instruction … you reject the Lord, who gave you His Holy Spirit. Who in their right mind wants to say this? We call this disobedience. So when you are walking in darkness you are rejecting the Lord, these are very harsh words for a brother. OUCH! Can this passage put it any plainer? Once again it is about choice. Are you going to look and act out? Are you going to lie and cheat and manipulate your brother or sister to get what you want? Or are you going to live a Holy Life?

The consequences are huge ….. the answer is CHOICE!

1 Peter 1:15-16
But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: "Be holy, because I am holy."NIV Be holy because I am Holy.

I live in you, so live like I am there. Easier said than done, I will do my best.

Another Day

Do you ever wake up and just feel like you are on the wrong side of the bed. You know…. Just having a bad attitude. Is this all there is? The Lord says "Today is the day the Lord has made and I will rejoice and be glad in it" I does not say "I choose to rejoice" it says , "I WILL REJOICE" If you choose to go to the store, does that mean you have gone to the store? Probably just mumbling here but it is how I am thinking this morning. The Lord says rejoice… so I am trying. So I am reading this morning and it just so happens that my bible is open to Colossians. So I just decide to read and when I get to verses 2.6-7 it just leaps off the page

Colossians 2:6-7
Therefore as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, having been firmly rooted and now being built up in Him and established in your faith, just as you were instructed, and overflowing with gratitude.NASB95

So Holy Spirit tells me what to do and at the same time tells me what is wrong. He says to walk in Him and my problem is, I am ungrateful.

My worst day today means I am still going to be with the Lord when it is time. Amen

My worst day today is better than my best day before I knew Jesus! Amen!

Blessings to you

Humility

I am reading in a book this morning by Andrew Murray about Humility. I opened up to chapter 6 "Humility in Daily Life"

There is a quote that says,

"The humble man looks on every child of God as a Child of the King" Can I say …….. That is not me. I don't walk in humility like I should. Maybe I do sometimes, but not enough

Colossians 3:12-17
So, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience; bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, whoever has a complaint against anyone; just as the Lord forgave you, so also should you. Beyond all these things put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity. Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body; and be thankful. Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God. Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father.NASB95

I can't help but wonder as I gain the Fear of the Lord in my life so comes the Humility. Paul said at the end of 2 Cor. 12.11 ………………………. I be nothing.

One last thought, my mom has come to Keller again to see her cousin and has not bothered to let me know she is in town. Last time they were hear they drove within 10 minutes of my house and didn't bother to stop and say hello. Business as usual with my family. We have lived here almost 7 years and they have stopped by our home for two hours once. She will be here for a week. I have said something to her before about this, but as she has so many times to me when growing up "In one ear and out the other" Every time I feel that I have dealt with this rejection it raises its ugly head again.

Psalm 4

Psalm 4

As I am reading in The power of a Praying wife, I get to the end of the prayer and Psalm 4 jumps out at me. So I read Psalm 4. The whole chapter speaks to me, but especially verse 4 and 5

I hear "Fear the Lord" and trust Him and listen.

Be Blessed

1 Answer me when I call, O God of my righteousness! You have relieved me in my distress; Be gracious to me and hear my prayer. O sons of men, how long will my honor become a reproach? How long will you love what is worthless and aim at deception? Selah. But know that the Lord has set apart the godly man for Himself; The Lord hears when I call to Him.
4 Tremble, and do not sin; Meditate in your heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah. 5 Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, And trust in the Lord. Many are saying, "Who will show us any good?" Lift up the light of Your countenance upon us, O Lord! You have put gladness in my heart, More than when their grain and new wine abound. In peace I will both lie down and sleep, For You alone, O Lord, make me to dwell in safety.NASB95
