John 2:10
“Why would you keep the best wine for last?” Everybody serves the better wine
first, so that by the time the cheaper wine is served, no-one can tell the
difference - and here you surprise us all by bringing this excellent wine from
your storehouse. Even though we already had much to drink, it is impossible not
to tell its superiority! (Even minds
intoxicated with inferior religious jargon can immediately tell the difference
when the Holy Spirit transforms ordinary conversation into the wonderful,
blissful wine of revelation and the merry celebration of life!)
I have to
admit my time with the Lord this week is not been the best. In fact, if I'm
going to be honest here it's been a struggle. I have been allowing many things to
get in the way. Even this morning I struggled but I pressed in. Graham Cooke
said that you should really try and read through the gospels every 3 to 4
months and focus more on what Jesus is trying to say instead of what Paul is
trying to say. I thought to myself now that's an interesting concept so that's
what I'm doing. So, this morning when I got to this passage it just kind of
stopped me and I've been meditating on it for a while now.
I have
concluded that's who I want to be! I want to always be the person who is serving
the good wine first. No matter where I'm at or where I'm going serving the good
wine first is being Jesus with skin on. When you are walking in truth. When
you are walking in love. Even the religious people see that you are genuine.
Even the atheist or non-believers know that you are the real deal. People that have never met you before will
know that there is something different about you. That means the telemarketer, the waiter or
waitress, the AT&T rep on the phone,
the person who pulls out in front of you or the cashier.
Here is one for you,
everyone that you spoke to yesterday, would they be able to tell that you were
Jesus with skin on? Or would they think
you were someone else?
I went and
looked at a job the other day. Before I got there the lady sent me a text
message and said,
“just wanted to let you know that we are a
married lesbian couple and if you have a problem with that then please let us
know and we'll find another contractor.”
Okay I
will be the first one to say I don't agree with that lifestyle. I also don’t
agree with the man who looks at porn every day or overeats every day or the
liar and thief. I must tell you though it broke my heart that
she felt she had to say that to me. My response was "I love Jesus which
means I love everybody, I will see you Tuesday morning."
The
religious person or the worldly person (are they not the same?) most likely
would have had a problem with that. just like they would have a problem with baking a wedding cake for
a gay couple. I might be the only Jesus they see.
Who am I
to rob them of that opportunity?
