Colossians 3:17 Your every
conversation and the detail of your daily conduct reflect him; his name and
lordship define your lives and inspire your deep gratitude to God the Father
for his grace. The Mirror
Colossians 3:23 Whatever you
do, picture Christ in the person you are doing it for; it makes such a
difference when you put your heart into it.
Colossians 3:17
And whatever you do, in word
or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the
Father through him. ESV
For me this means I'm not working for people it means I'm
working for Him. For me when I'm doing things around my house for my wife. I'm
really doing it for Him. When I'm remodeling the kitchen I'm not doing it for
the client I'm doing it for Him. That puts a whole different perspective and
Twist on everything that I do and how I see things.
So, my love language is words of affirmation. So, when I do
a kitchen remodel I love it when the client says good job we're going to refer you
to our friends but in my mind, I need to be thinking I didn't do this kitchen
remodel for you I did it for my Daddy in heaven because that's what's
important. I really wish I had that thought process on every job, but I
don't I am a work in progress.
If you do all things unto the Lord, then you would never
need affirmation from man. (that does not mean you will not get it though) Would
the love language's really need to exist if you have the attitude that
everything that you do is unto the Lord?
When having the attitude that I will do everything unto the Lord, that
kind of negates any griping that you may have because your boss at work
assigned you to clean the toilets. These toilets haven't been
cleaned in 6 months and guess what nobody is going to know that you are the one
who cleaned them. Nobody except your daddy in heaven and your boss. (and
maybe who every you’re whining too)
Matthew
6:6 But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your
Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you. ESV
