John 1:47-48
Jesus saw Nathanael
coming toward Him, and said of him, “Behold, an
Israelite indeed, in whom is no deceit!”
Nathanael said to Him,
“How do You know me?”
Jesus answered and
said to him, “Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw
you.”
I've read
this scripture countless times the Book of John is one of my favorite books.
“Behold, an Israelite
indeed, in whom is no deceit!” Here
Jesus is speaking truth into Nathanael.
Nathaniel
says Jesus how do You know me? And Jesus answered, “When you were under the fig
tree, I saw you.” It never dawned on me what Jesus was saying here and it’s kind
of unnerving, but in a good way. In
other words, Jesus is saying, I see you when you don't see me. I see
everything that you do. I see what you
do when you're at home by yourself. I see how you act when you're driving down
the road. I see you in the secret place
when you spend time with my father.
So here we
are ……. Knowing that Jesus knows everything and that God sees everything.
Why is it
so hard at times to believe that He is actually there beside us?
If we Truly believed that he is right there, then why do we sometimes take him to places that are very at bad? If He was in living flesh then there is no way we would take him there.
